Founder of Codez Academy Wins the 2015 CBF Entrepreneur of the Year Award!

We are delighted to announce that Codez Academy founder, Dean Jenkins has won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards last Friday! The awards are considered one of Wales most prestigious and competitive events, recognising the achievements of businesses big and small from across all sectors in Caerphilly County Borough. Winners were selected for a number of categories that included the Innovation Award, Women in Business, Business of the Year and the Premier Award.

Describing the win as ‘absolutely buzzing’ we are all very proud to see that the progress of Codez Academy is being recognised. Dean feels very humbled to be nominated and selected as it has been a long slog to get to where he is now, and being a winner of the CBF has only motivated him and his team to keep pushing Codez Academy to higher realms!

Dean said of the experience ‘it’s great to be recognised for such an achievement after suffering from dyslexia and struggling in school when I was younger. One of my biggest motivations for the way I structured my courses was to really engage my students and show them that learning doesn’t have to be academic and strict; it can be hands-on and fun. I think my spin on teaching would have helped me immensely in school and it’s great to see that it has been recognised!’

We have many big plans in the pipeline for the future, with a number of our pilot schemes completed and ready to go, the accreditation process on wheels, and our most exciting project, Digital Roots, under development. We’re particularly fond of our Digital Roots Scheme, whereby we provide six weeks of training followed by sixteen weeks of work experience with our mother company, Creative Pod Design. With this scheme we hope to help students expand on their training by receiving industry standard work experience and build a relevant portfolio which will help them gain employment in the digital sector. If you’re interested, feel free to contact us to find out more!

We’d just like to say a big thank you to the Caerphilly Business Forum for staging the awards, and to Coleg y Cymoedd for supporting this award and fantastic event. Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees and we hope to see you all again same time next year!
